My reflection after the workshop:

Compared to the last two workshops I have conducted at RMHD, the third workshop was smoother, less nervous, and even more engaging! Every time I hold a workshop, my first and biggest concern is whether kids will show up or not. Although I do still get nervous if none of the kids are interested in my workshop, I noticed that the number of kids joining my workshop doesn’t matter at all. Today, about five kids showed up, and they seemed to enjoy the workshop a lot. I was able to concentrate on them and give them compliments and encouraging comments to further explore their creativity. One of those kids who showed up today also included Amy, who was a very unique and meaningful kid from my last workshop. Even though her and her mother couldn’t speak English, we could understand each other emotionally very well. Amy seemed to improve her English skill a little more than the last time, and I was extremely glad she remembered me from the last workshop. Me and her developed a more tight and deep relationship, and I hope to help improve both her English and Art skills over time until she leaves RMHD and starts to explore her life even more. I love this kid, and what I love the most about her is that she seems very happy whenever doing art. Besides Amy, all the other kids who attended today’s workshop also gave me a huge amount of pleasure and joy. Their smiles and artistic explorations serve as a drive for me to try and prepare better for them for the next workshop. I can’t wait to keep meeting each and differently unique kid at RMHD!
