Workshop #5

Creativity Class

Unlike the other workshop sessions I’ve conducted this year at RMHD, I held a creativity class for the first time that isn’t based on a specific project but rather encourages children to freely draw up their imaginative ideas. I’ve prepared two separate bags full of paper strips with random inanimate objects written on them.

My reflection after the workshop:

I aimed to encourage creativity among children through this type of workshop; however, I noticed that children prefer to have a clear instruction with a certain project for them to complete. I realized that a certain project workshop provides an outlet for children to expand on their ideas based on the project instruction, but a creativity class left them confused in the beginning. I plan to continue on the idea of developing a certain artistic project but add on some creative elements to encourage their imagination rather than having a plain creativity class during the workshop!
